This obvious boulder is a ear shot away from The caveman boulder. Doesn't seem to get much traffic. It is a great warm up area with lots of easy climbs. But don't let the grade fol you, some of these lines are trickier than they appear.

Getting There

It is just across the road, south of the campground, between the campground and the Intersection Rock parking lot.

Desert Rat Crack V-easy 3  California : Joshua Tree National Park : ... : Pothole Rock
Climbs a grainy arete/dihedral with a flaring crack and slopes. The Mantel is the hard part, but that is to be expected here. Not a fun top out for shorties....[more]   Browse More Classics in California

This is an awesome beginning boulder. Everything other than the mantle problem is workable for newer climbers and provides good exposure for slab and sloper climbing found in Joshua Tree. Can't beat its accessibility or its descent, either.
