BETA PHOTO: KC prepares to climb Poop Deck and Keelhauling.

Description

"Poop Deck" is a short toprope (or potentially highball) route on Gilligan's Island, which follows an overhanging arete.

Beta:
A few easy moves quickly lead to a reachy, tricky, roof problem just a couple meters off the ground. Mind your rope carefully through this section. After pulling through the roof, a lieback leads to technical smears and crimpers up the bulging prow. The difficulty eases considerably upon reaching the top of the bulge.

The grade is approximate, and a consensus rating has yet to be established. Feel free to offer your input.

Location

Just a few meters right of Fearless Man lies a short, vertical rock face by the largest pine tree in the vicinity. Poop Deck and Keelhauling (see photo) share a gear anchor at the top.

Protection

Build a toprope anchor using clean trad-gear placements (a few nuts, hexes, and long slings) near the summit of Gilligan's Island. The top is easily accessible via a short scramble up the south side, or a low 5th-class solo up the crack to the left of Keelhauling. Bring extra cord and extend the anchor to reduce rope drag. Walk off the south side.

I went out last night and set-up shop...maybe with a little different variation than what you have in your beta picture for Poop Deck, but close.
I used your pic. to show my line and also where I set my TR.

Poop Deck.

There is a large horn of rock (upper right, circled in blue) that you can sling (long slings or hitch it with cord) and plenty of options to back it up...this let me suspend my anchor over the lip to avoid rope drag.

Fun indeed and I would agree on the .10+.
That sexy jug to get through the mini-roof is crux and I think is height-dependent, shorties will have to really work for it.
