Poison Oak Crack

Current San Diego County Advisories MORE INFO >>>

Description

This popular and moderate off width is a fun climb. The crux comes toward the bottom of the climb were the off width is a little akward. As you get higher the crack narrows and the angle backs off.

Protection

Number 4 near the bottom, #1 as you get higher. Bolt anchor and rap rings at top of route.

Climbed a few weeks ago. Pro should be camalot #3-4 for the first 3/4, afterwards #2. I don't think a #1 placement is possible anywhere (except maybe right by the rap bolts)

We found the poison oak still near by, waiting for that climber to scrape his thigh.

EDIT: 3-4" pro for the main crack, can sneak in a 1" along the way as well.

Awesome beginner trad lead. The crack takes pro very well, and on the most part you can stay out of the crack to climb it since there are so many features to hold onto. Great stances.

Bolted anchor.
