TBH I haven't photographed climbing in two years (www.ryandaythompson.ski) and I really want to take a trip to revisit this part of my shooting history. My parents live in Desert Ridge so I'm gonna go spend a few days there from the 27th to the 2nd.

I'm not a very good climber. I can really only climb most 5.7 on gear in the area (5.9 on gear in my home area but that's because it's my home area). So I suppose I'll probably need a ropegun. Apologies on that. I'll pay for beer and give you some (hopefully) rad photos of yourself. I guess I'm probably looking for a party of two to climb a route, fix for me, and then repeat cruxes. Unless we can find routes I can walk to the top of or shoot off the ground in which case you'll only have to climb once.

I'd like to spend the bright daylight hours NOT shooting (a mistake I initially made in my rock photographing endeavors) but finding my photograph for the day and then shooting at sunset/sunrise.

Phoenix is a big place with a long history so I'm hoping to find some motivated individuals (note that I said both sunset AND sunrise).

1) I hate this (HATE this) but I really need you to be able to climb a "publishable" grade. I dunno. 5.11 - 5.12. Even though I may not ask you to get on that grade and I'm sometimes as likely to get a photo published of you racking up as I am to get one published of you climbing it's generally a good idea to have a hard climber because inevitably a shot comes up where I need you to move quickly for the right light and it's a slightly stiffer grade.

2) I really want to shoot the Candyland traverse while hanging out in space off the roof or the ballsy fucking moves on the upper section of Coatimundi itself. I was talking to a local doctor dirtbag friend of mine yesterday who lives in area and he says it may still be warm enough up there. I don't know much about the area besides the fact that I really want to shoot it.

3) I have a shot in my head that has a model and the city in the background that I'm sure has probably been done a million times but I'd like to have it in my portfolio. Where do I get this shot? Camelback? Tom's Thumb? Let's go suss something out and make it happen.

4) I need you to be completely OK with wearing skittle colors and with the obnoxious shit show that is "commercial climbing" photography (repeating cruxes, hero posing, shuffling through your bag for no reason, looking off into the distance, etc.)

Payment? This is climbing photography. I've made a total of probably $700 in climbing photography in five years. I'm no Chin/Watt/Ladzinski

And there was an end to this post that didn't post for whatever reason.

I'm happy to hook you up with beer as mentioned and give you photos for your social if you're into that. I'll make a print for you as a thank you if you find one you really just want in print form :-) If we get anything good I'll submit to R&I and Climbing as well so...that's not really payment though

Ha! I should know better than to post here. I really should.

Trying to remember how I got people to model the first time around if it wasn't just asking honestly :-)

Candyland is FOR SURE warm enough still. Actually it was sweltering hot two weeks ago. Prepare for a long ass hike in. K-Tanz
