West face of Pasteurization Block. This is what yo...

Description

This is a great boulder just southeast of the big, paved pulloff before Rock Garden.

The quality of the boulder is really good across most of the west, south, and north faces. The east face is lacking a lot.

The block is right off the road but doesn't seem to see a lot of traffic, especially since it's really good quality rock (from what we experienced).

Getting There

Drive into Unaweep on CO 141 toward Gateway. About 2-3 miles into the canyon, pull off onto the biggest paved pullout on the right hand side. From there, hike southeast across the road and up the hill. It's visible from the road.

See the map. I did my best to mark the parking lot.

Stand start in the center of west face of the Pasteurization Block using a positive left side pull and a TINY sloping, right hand crimp. From there, move up to the obvious rail that starts at the roof.Once you get that, make a big move up to the lip. Your feet may cut, but it's a pretty positive hold. From there, find a way to top out....[more]   Browse More Classics in Colorado
