Greetings...

I'll be in Albuquerque next week with free days on Thursday and Friday. Never been to the area before. Anyone available either day?

I'd be interested in doing a long route in the Sandias, but sport climbing or bouldering would be fine, too...

Grade-wise... anything below 5.9+ / 10- on a long route. Bouldering up to v4, sport up to low 5.12...

I'm also curious as to the possibility of using the tram to descend certain routes. 'Twould be nice for me, as I have some old injuries that make long approaches less fun - though I can suffer through 'em.

Wish I could go with you, but I think work is going to be busy this week (and I might be getting sick which doesn't help.) Here's some info on the conditions, though, to help with your planning.

Aside from bouldering, you're looking for a pretty long approach no matter where you go in the Sandias. Also, looks can be deceiving. The west side of the hill looks dry, but this trail report indicates otherwise:

fs.fed.us/r3/cibola/recreat…

We've had a heavy snow year and runoff is high so any long routes might be out of the question for a few more weeks at least.

HTH

Thanks for the reply.... Let me know if your schedule clears up. I'll probably just explore the bouldering or the Sandias (if the trails allow it) tomorrow and/or Friday.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
