CaNo Hondo Lodge. Here you will find the endangere...

On the property of the Paraiso CaNo Hondo Eco-lodge there are a number of short bolted limestone faces. The routes are behind the lower lodge. You wont have many other climbers around.

The lodge is quite nice and there are fresh water pools to relax in. Camping is allowed nearby.

Getting There

Buses depart from Santo Domingo for Sabana del Mar. If you are in Samana you can take a ferry across the Bay of Samana to Sabana del Mar. From the bus stop or the marina you can get a taxi or motorcycle taxi the handfull of kilometers to Paraiso Cano Hondo.

Miseal Calcano is the guide at the lodge that you will want to communicate with. You can contact him via facebook; just search for his name.

The small crag at the lodge is only the tip of the iceberg. While you are staying at the lodge you can hire a boat to take you through the mangrove out to San Lorenzo Bay where the real jewel is. There you will find limitless deep water soloing and some of the hardest bolted routes in the DR (5.13 and up) established by pro climbers in 2013. Be aware that these routes are bolted with stainless steel in a highly corrosive environment, so inspect the bolts carefully.
