Olive hill is a public hiking area maintained by the City of Moreno Valley. There is a trail just north of the parking area that winds its way up the mountain, taking you past hundreds of boulders, before ending at the summit of the mountain.
Like the rest of the valley, the weather is mostly in the 70s and 80s most of the year reaching into the 100s in the summer and dipping into the 50s in the winter.
I have not found much info about this area online, but have found several bolts at the top of many of the rocks and boulders. If you have further info on FAs please contribute and I will update what I can.
The area is not crowded and beside the occasional family hiking, or kids hanging out after school you will not see very many people around.
The rock is Granite and like the rock at the adjacent Box springs Mountain, ranges from very chossy to very good, with most of the rock being quite sharp.
Exit the 60 Freeway on Perris Blv. and go north. Just passed North Ridge Elementary school make a right on Kalmia Ave. Go about a half mile and make a left on Kitching St. Park at the dead end.
Climbing Season For the All Locations area.
