Description

This is a pretty cool little area with a handful of routes. It's nothing too expansive but worth a look if you're local. There is a main wall that has most of the routes, the main quarry which only has a couple of routes and some scattered boulders. The boulders aren't great. Most are too small to mess with, but there's two that are okay. The rock is sharp and gritty granite. I wouldn't call the rock quality top notch, but it's not complete crap. Beware of broken glass.

Getting There

Park on one of two fire roads off of Old Turnpike Rd. in West Townsend. The gates are locked. You will have to hike in from there. Follow the trail along the train tracks. Go right at the fork, and the main wall is on your right past some large piles of granite chunks. Go left at the fork, and you'll hit the main quarry pit.

This is the route to the left of The King's Flake. It is not super memorable except for the topout only because it's tall. The starting hold is to the left of the graffiti D. Move up on good solid holds, and top out on a horizontal flake. This is a good warm-up....[more]   Browse More Classics in Massachusetts
