CU Boulder's Old Main is one of Boulder's oldest buildings. Old main housed not only the first classrooms but the president's home, the library, and the janitor's quarters. While most buildings or campus have shelf-like holds, Old Main has a more natural rock look and feel because they used chunks rather than slabs of sandstone to construct it.

Getting There

This is on the North side of Norlin Quad midway along.

It is the building that has a sign that reads "Old Main".

Hale Science south wall late Fall Nov. 1991. While redoing its roof, we had set up a few fixed ropes to deal with the high angle sections. After work, Tom Sciolino and I decided to snag a first ascent. With the sun quickly dropping along with the temps, I belayed Tom in his plastic dbl boots, and he nailed the TR first ascent of 'Shit It's Cold'!
