Description

This small, little "Oasis" offer some great boulder problems for the area.

Getting There

This is complicated, but I'll try my best to describe.

From the big Hummingbird Boulder (Circle of Life), walk up 50 feet and left, pass under Hero Boulder, and up ahead you will see a big hill. Weave your way through the boulders (aim slightly right), and find an clear way up the steep hill (BTW, this is not the same way as the trail to Alpenglow). Climb the steep hill, and if all went well, hopefully you will be on the right edge of a massive boulderfield. If you just find a boulderfield, traverse right towards the nice, little, treed areas, and hopefully you will find the problems. Sorry that this is so complicated, I will try to post photos on how to get there soon.

Beached Beluga V5 6C  Colorado : Keystone a.k.a. Montezuma : ... : Whale Boulder
Beached Beluga is a great problem that starts with left hand on the sloping rail/ledge and a right in a good undercling. Do a big move to a thin but sweet flake, and then pull the topout (crux). Either do the "Beached Beluga" or see if you can pull it normally....[more]   Browse More Classics in Colorado

I will take more photos on how to get to the area and am planning on building a trail up the hill to make it easier to find.

NOTE: I made a faint trail that gets you up the hill from the Hummingbird Boulders.

Ok, I feel like I need to add something here, because trying to find these boulders from the description led to about 2 hours of bushwhacking. Especially if there is a light dusting of snow, and you can't see the trail, I would highly recommend following these directions instead.

From the main Hummingbird Boulder, 'traverse' right along the hill (due East) and skirt along the bottom edge of the boulderfield. Once you feel like you are 'past' the boulderfield (maybe 15 min of hiking), start to head North, up the hill. Following the East side of the boulder field up the hill will lead you to The Fridge boulder in about 5-10 min of mild scrambling.

The Fridge has a nice open landing area and a flat area surrounding it (on the climbing side), and is one of the few rocks around where that is the case, so keep an eye out for that.
