Gorgeous sunsets from the top of the Bighorns

Description

Technically on the western slope of the Big Horns, but none the less, it's a beautiful place to stop along 14a, and you can drive right up to the boulders. The rock can be a little crumbly, but it still makes for fun crystal pinching. Started calling this area the Phone Booth since you get pretty good service here!

Catches the sun most of the day, but even in July the hottest it gets is 80 degrees. You might be sharing the area with a few dispersed campers or families hiking around with kids.

With its proximity to the road, I would imagine that some of this may have been climbed, though the problems I cleaned over the summer seemed to have never seen traffic. Please let me know if any information here needs to be corrected!

Getting There

A bit over 20 miles west of Burgess Junction on 14a. Just after the big lookout, you'll see the boulders on your left. Turn south onto NFR 121 and drive around to a dirt parking area.
