New Castle Boulders Rock Climbing
This area has fun bouldering. What these boulders lack in quantity, they make up for in quality. There are several great problems on good stone. It is good almost year round.
Take the New Castle exit (#105) off I-70, and head north into town. Go straight through the four-way intersection, and follow this street through residential areas until it intersects with County Road 245 at a T intersection. A few miles outside of town, take a right on County Road 241 (East Elk Creek). You'll also see signs for a KOA. There is a parking pullout 0.3 mile up the road on the right. Hike back the way you came until you see a faint trail heading uphill, directly across from a driveway with a metal gate. You can also park on the left side of the road before the trail, but please don't park in the driveway, it's private property. Follow the trail as it cuts to the right and follows a small water pipe. At a cement foundation for a canal leading to a pipe, head uphill to the boulders.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: pretty sure these boulders do not exist. Couple buddies and I spent an hour trying to locate them, only coming up short. Came back to the car to find that it was about to be towed even though it was parked in a pulloff.
Our theory: a towing company put up these non-existent climbs on MP. They lull climbers into parking off the street so that they can get towed and make money. Only recommend this "bouldering area" if you prefer a never-ending approach and getting your car towed.
