I came across this article last week and couldn't find any more information about it. Does anyone know more about it? A photo in the article referred as Needle's Eye Boulder Park.
It is confusing to me because the entire minden area outside oak hill is only 316 acres and having been to the area a few times I don't remember ever seeing any bouldering areas.
Viper, the bouldering area would be up the hill to your left as you're driving downhill through Minden. It's a great spot. There's a high concentration of bouldering. I hesitate to compare it to LRC or Rocktown, it's definitely not a world class destination, but it does have a similar feel. Lots of corridors and mini cliff line boulders as well as some standalone blocks. There is also cliff with a handful of established routes already and room for a few more. Of course, the NRG is a 5 minute drive away so I doubt the 50 foot routes will be a major draw.
Getting the approval from Oak Hill and the funding is great, but I have no idea what the time line is for actually opening the place. The parking isn't really sorted yet and the area is still posted "no trespassing." It'll take some trail work and some brush clearing, but the locals are standing by and ready to help. It'll be a great, easy access climbing area.
