Description

A place of great solitude and beauty. Getting there can be a little tricky for your first time. But your work will be rewarded

Getting There

Park near the bathroom at Horsethief trailhead. Skirt the lake and take the trail heading off near the stream. Follow this for a while until you run into an obvious trail intersection. Go to your right. Keep your eyes open now, after only a few minutes of hiking you will need to take a trail heading off to the left. It is hidden by a standing tree, but there is a weird stick-cairn that has been placed nearby. Follow this trail up until it ends. Bushwhack to Mt Dallymore.

Take flakes up and right until you can reach the nice long lieback flake. Follow this flake up until its end. Continue straight up until you reach more horizontal cracks which lead you to the right. Gain the big chimney (which appears to be, and perhaps may sometimes be) wet and dirty. Belay in the big cove....[more]   Browse More Classics in SD
