Travers and vertical crux on the mountaineers rout...

RAIN AND WET ROCK The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. MORE INFO >>>

This is the easiest way up to the top. A cable with old weathered bolts (as of Feb. 29, 2016) protects two thirds of a horizontal travers to a vertical crack / chimney. Several fixed ropes make the vertical section easy for free soloing or using an ascender. It goes free at around YDS 5.7+ to 5.8.

The mountaineers trail goes to t he beginning of the travers, which is on the North Side of the mesa.

Cams up to a number 5 BD. The crux is not well protected.
