I would love some feedback on a quiz/contest that will go live in a few days. It's an educational quiz designed to help beginners (1-2 years experience) tell the difference between acceptable techniques and what is outdated or wrong in the complex world of mountaineering standards.

Let me know (in this thread or pm me) if any questions don't make sense, seem too advanced, etc. I'm trying to address the common mistakes people make in the field- let me know if the quiz has that feel.

You can also enter your email to be entered in the prize drawing. The google doc is below:

I liked the quiz and thought it was well made.
The questions seemed adequate.
The only concern is its length. I think it doesn´t cover enough topics.
There is not enough questions about hypothermia, nutrition, route finding/orientation, communication, human factors, equipment etc.

Yeah, we'll email you Tyler. I figured facebook would be the easiest place for most folks to see the answers, if they want to.

And Moritz, thanks for the feedback. I'll hopefully be able to include some more subjects in the near future. And those would be great topics.

Keep the thoughts coming!

A slight wording edit regarding the sliding X question:

Rather than calling it a load limiter, the term extension limiter or, as the linked article calls it an "isolation knot" describes the function better. A load limiter should directly decrease the maximum load in a system, (i.e. seat belt limiters, or a screamer).

Great! Thanks for all the feedback. The Quiz- 'Mountaineering Dogma' is now live and you can enter to win a Rab Jacket:

Brake hand not break hand.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
