This area is a quality shield of Coconino's finest; perched high in a southwest facing bowl of choss. Long, involved, and obscure approaches and limited routes make this place secluded, once you walk past the jeeps, drones, and tour-ons.

Getting There

Park at the Submarine Rock parking area. Hike to the east and to the left of two large sandstone bowls. Head past Submarine Rock, jump into the wash heading east, staying close cliff band. Look for the choss, sandbarish ridge heading to the magnificent looking streaked shield of rock with a crack splitting the upper half. There were cairns in wash. Stay in the WASH! At least 1.5 hour approach, much more if you don't have a reputable Vortex Guide.
