Access Issue: Bridges Out! IMPORTANT LADWP NEGOTIATIONS!!
Details
Due to liability concerns, bridges are being removed in the Owens River Gorge at the request of LADWP. The Bishop Area Climbers Coalition and the Access Fund are currently in negotiations with LADWP to get this issue resolved. In the meantime, please continue to be good land stewards by respecting these bridge closures and finding alternate crossing points until this issue is resolved.
1) Never park or camp overnight at the access points.
2) Always park off the pavement, taking great care to avoid blocking the gates.
3) Clean up after your dogs. (Local climbers are finding abandoned doggie poop bags.)
4) Pack out all trash and TP, including picking up after others.
5) Use the outhouses if at all possible.

Description
The Middle Elbow Room faces North West and stays in the sun late into the afternoon. By June, the sun comes around and shines on the rock. The base of the routes is on a steep, fairly loose, scree slope.
Getting There
The river crossing has changed a bit since Marty's 10th edition of the Owens River Gorge guide.
Upper gorge approach: After descending into the upper gorge, hike south (down river) for about 5 minutes until you get to a river crossing. This trek will take you past the Trestle area that can be identified by old and abandoned trestles. Cross the river over an old, dead tree, then stay right of the giant boulder that is located in the middle of the fork in the river. Another crossing appears on the right, which takes you to Flavin Haven and further down the gorge. Don't cross there. Instead, go towards the left river fork (south east) another 30 feet where there is a crossing made up of large stones and a log. Once you cross the river, go 20' or 30' up the boulder field and head in the down river direction toward Middle Elbow Room.
