BETA PHOTO: Merv's Nerve is the second route from the right
Climb a narrow path between Butterfly and Easy Layback. The crack is off. So is the left side of the face. What's on? About 2 feet in the middle.
Hades Heights, about 30 feet upstream from the end of the path. Find the flake for Easy Layback, and move just left of that.

FYI this route is named for my dad, Merval Oleson, who regularly climbed at Carderock in the 50's and 60's. One of the women he and his partners went climbing with came up with the name after seeing my dad do the "sewing machine leg" (that is the story my dad tells, and it was supposed to be Merv's Nerves plural). As with many of the climbs at Carderock, this route has become much more difficult over the years due to polish and holds breaking off
