Hey guys, I'm getting my feet wet in the world of trad. If there are any experienced guys on here willing to let me call them up and pick their brain about some stuff I would love that. If anyone is interested, post an email/number I can reach you at. Thanks guys. Biggie Fresh

Buy and read Freedom of the Hills or a trad specific book. You really need to go climb with someone as a follower for a while. Gear discussions are plentiful on the forums.

I wouldn't mind doing some trad leads so you could get an understanding, but I and others will ask that you not jump in head first without checking the depth of the pool.

A lot of the people on here are guides who trained extensively. They will recommend you hire a guide for a day if the itch needs to be scratched.

Yep. Learning some solid basics like the 3-4 standard anchor setups (Quad, 3 leg sliding x, 3 leg figure 8, 2 bolt sliding x or figure 8) and climbing with someone that knows what they are doing can go a long way.

There is so much stuff that seems like it would be a big thing but isn't and so much that seems like it's a small thing, but is a big deal that just getting out with someone and asking them to please teach you how to do things right is the best way to do it.

Once you have the basics down do some trial runs by placing gear while on top rope. You'll learn about how turning a cam 180 degrees can make a marginal placement into a bomber placement.

Most of this stuff can't really be covered just talking about it. You need to see and do.
