Description

The city of Mendoza is located in the middle West of Argentina. Its limits are: at North the province of San Juan, at East the province of San Luis, at South the province of Neuquen and at West the Republic of Chile.

Its great natural beauty is given by its geography, characterized by the Andean string that travels through Mendoza from South to North.

The predominant climate is arid and semi-arid, although it's usual to find large oasis crossed by crystalline mountain streams. One of the most important is Valle de Uco.

The annual average temperature is 18ºC, with an average one of 22ºC in Summer and of 7ºC in Winter.

The cordillera of Los Andes reaches in Mendoza its highest altitude with Cerro Aconcagua, that climbs up to 6,962 meters, being also the highest peak of the American Continent.

The city of Mendoza was founded by Pedro del Castillo in March 2nd, 1561. It has an elevation of 760 meters above sea level. Mendoza is composed by 18 departments including the Capital City. Last census of INDEC showed its population is 1,579,651 inhabitants.

Getting There

It's possible to get to Mendoza by international flights from Buenos Aires or Santiago de Chile.

There are several flights from these two points, and they arrive to El Plumerillo International Airport, where the aero-station Francisco Gabrielli is located, outside the city of Mendoza. This is the most important airport of the province.

The net of terrestrial transport offers numerous connections from and towards different points in the country, Chile and Peru.

An ultra classic for the area characterized by varied climbing, lots of crack climbing and great rock.P1) Climb a low angle slab to a nice, tight finger dihedral. Then jam your way up the side of a boulder and head slightly left to a short hand crack to a 2 bolt belay below a roof. You can extend the belay back down to the ledge if you use the rope (5.10d, 35m).P2) Crux pitch. Excellent rock throughout and awesome climbing. Technical crux tips crack at the start to a rest.
