BETA PHOTO: The right side of Mektep.
Mektep, meaning school in Kazakh, is located by the dihedral, to the left of the black streaks on the predominate wall. These climbs have the most logical bolting and best anchors that I've seen in the region (Bolted by Alex Klenov). The anchors are 2 bolts with chains and rap rings. This area receives intense sun from mid-day, on. I marked the bolts on one route and will mark the rest when I have a chance to go back.
NOTE: Helmets should be worn at all times in this area. The rock quality ranges from fair to poor and I have unexpectedly broken off sizable pieces of rock!
Hike up the boulder field from the road. Head to the left of the black streaks on the predominate wall.

: ... : Mektep
This is the 3rd route form the left. Follow the bolts to the anchor at the top of the right facing roof. Small crimps and awkward side-pulls with ok feet. Fun climbing! NOTE: The rock quality is poor from the last 2 bolts to the anchor. You can go left of (or directly over) the bulge between bolts 8 & 9 for better quality rock. Climbing to the right is dangerous for the belayer!!! Or, take the variation to the anchor of climb B but you'll miss out on the crux and some fun moves. ...[more] Browse More Classics in International
