Mek's Mountain Rock Climbing

Mek's Mountain is the largest climbing area on Koh Tao, it consists of a series of very large granite boulders sitting on a steep hill in the middle of the island. The rocks are visible from boats just of Sairee beach and are the some of the largest visible anywhere on the island. There are approx 35 routes in the area on different rock walls with different features providing some nice variety on the climbs from faces, chimneys, aretes and overhanging walls. There are a combination of shady and sunny walls. Almost all of the climbs have top rope access with about half being also bolted as sport routes. The average heights are around 15m with 1 being 28 m and a 3 pitch multi-pitch climb of total height of 43m. The rocks is all crystalline granite and can be sharp in places, the erosion patterns creating some great climbs. The 'dont miss' sport routes are: Good Morning Koh Ta, 5a; Return of the Ent Wife, 5c; Devine intervention, 6a; Carjack; 6b+, The Bitch in Me, 6c and Pow right in the baby maker, P1-5c, P2-6a, P3 - 6a+. The largest rock is also used for abseiling and has bolts for a highline setup. The areas was developed exclusively by Goodtime Adventures Koh Tao and used by them commercially. There are amazing views over the island from the tops of climbs and the top of Fraggle Rock. There is no shop at the site so bring lots of water.
