Windy Point West from old Summit Hut guide circa 1...

South facing crag with a mix of moderate to hard routes, both mixed and sport. Best known for Mean Mistreater a 5.10 three star tucson classic, but there are lots of stars to be found here. Great for winter climbing on moderate days.

Getting There

Approach bypassing the north side of the swim fin - downclimb the tree - Go down the drainage about twenty feet and turn right. Mean Mistreater is on your right. You can also approach by walking down past North Fin turn right at "Slippery when wet" and up the drainage about 50 feet, then turn left.

Climbing Season

For the 4 - Windy Point West area.

Mean Mistreater 5.10c 6b 20 VII 20 E2 5b  Arizona : Mount Lemmon (Santa Catalin... : ... : Mean Mistreater Wall
This route is located in the middle of the Mean Mistreater formation. --Starts with a bolt up high and goes straight up face to a finger crack at top of P1 to chain anchors. --P2 head out right and then up to bolt 1 then back left to bolt 2. A fall at the crux could be a bad one because of the ledge. Tricky sequence on this crux so watch the fall. then up crack to short face and chain anchors. --This is an excellent climb in a beautiful setting. A true Mt. Lemmon classic. What a blast!!...[more]   Browse More Classics in Arizona

In the last two weeks(3/28/17-4/9/17 me, Elisa Phillips, Katya Lin and Rachel High have added 5 new single pitch routes to this wall. They are all single pitch sport routes. These routes are all bolted lines that go to existing or new anchors part way up the cliff. If you are using Squeezing the Lemmon III the leftmost route is Loonatic Fringe 10+ and is just left of Rich and Dave Route. the next one moving right towards Windy Point is not yet named and is just right of the first pitch of Mean Mistreater and is also 10-10+. The next route is a 10- just right of Fellin' Fertile and it is called Dr. Crusher 10-, then just right of that is a shorter wall with Sixy Lady 5.6 and Grace Slick 5.9. Update your book.

Maybe this wall should be renamed "Mean Mis-squeezer." ;)
