Climbing a V1 problem, on a boulder known as "...

Description

The more southern areas of The Box. Some of the walls face south for good winter climbing. Several routes among the walls with grades ranging from moderate to advanced. Like the rest of Box, most of the routes are equipped with bolts with some taking occasional pro.

Getting There

From the northern areas main parking, continue on the dirt road crossing a wash and south for about a mile up the hill. You will eventually get to a point where the road tops the hill and splits. Take the left hand (downhill and more travelled) branch. There is a turnaround down near the cattle guard. There is a trail just north of the cattle guard to access Unbeatable, Harmonica Convention, Tres Hermanas, etc. Keep going back North on the road to closer to the top of the hill again to find a trail to Major Wall, Pocket Change, Alcohol Wall, etc.

Pressure Drop V1 5  New Mexico : Socorro Area : ... : Unbeatable Boulder
Sit start with a couple small but good holds. Make a first left hand move to a large jug sidepull and do the arete with some jugs on the left face. Great fun, a must do. It can be done using *only* the arete but it's significantly harder (V4-V5?). ...[more]   Browse More Classics in New Mexico
