MP Gudda is a fine granite hill in close proximity of Rasta Cafe climbs, past Rasta Cafe. However the approach/trailheads to the two hillocks are different.

M.P. Gudda climbs were put up starting early 2017.

As of March 2017 MP Gudda features the following sport routes:
1. Sankranti, a 2 pitch route (7a, 6a).

2,3,4: single pitch routes 30-35m, 5.7-5.10a

Early mornings are the best time to climb these routes (in shade). Start with 1 in the early morning, as it is in the sun from early morning. 2-4 are in shade till about 11am.

There is at least one other route, a trad route Vasuki, 5.7+ put up by Sohan and party, BCI, info to follow once someone who's climbed it can share here.

Getting There

Use the googlemaps (coordinates shown on the map on the left).

Coming from Bangalore, drive 350m past Rasta Cafe, past the HP Petrol Pump on Bengaluru-Mysore highway and turn right. Park at the end of the village road, about 150m further from the last point Google maps shows (the road is fine).

Follow the path to the left for another 100 odd meters till you see the clean slab. See relevant pics/googlemaps.

The first pitch is steep, with a mildly overhanging start, very interesting moves. 10 bolts. Multiple cruxes. Sustained 5.11d. Pitch 2 is 5.10a slab typical of this region, with about 8-10 bolts to the station. Traverse to the anchor station of Route 2 to rap off to the slab and walk down to the base. There is some loose rock, since as of March very few parties have attempted this routes, this should stabilise soon.A 60m rope is just sufficient for Sankranti and Route 2; the others may ...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
