Lower Dinosaur Rock Rock Climbing
BETA PHOTO: Lower Dinosaur Rock - Center Left Topo
Lower Dinosaur Rock, the larger of the two formations, is split by numerous cracks of varying widths and also has a number of bolted sport routes. Highlights include Wooly Mammoth
(5.7), Balding in Peru (5.8), Sprockets
(5.10c), Earth Daze
(5.11b) and Savage Puppy
The rock here is extremely sharp, even by Keller Peak standards, so taping up (for the crack climbs) is highly recommended.
Lower Dinosaur Rock is easily approached via a good trail which starts from the edge of Campsite 2. Plan on about 5-10 minutes for the approach.

Above the angle steepens and interesting face moves culminate with the crux right before the anchors. The route was initially done on Earth Day...[more] Browse More Classics in California
