Description

A cool secluded crag in a beautiful place in N. Shuteye Ridge.

Getting There

Up Beasore road past Jones Store. Right on Grizzly Rd, and right again on 6S023...(may not be marked.....)...At 6S006Y go right and uphill (again, probably not marked). At the end of the road are two camps....from the bigger first camp there is a short trail to the swimming hole. From the swimming hole, follow cairns about 20 min. to the crag.

A cool 3 pitch route which climbs up an arete and then up interesting face climbing to the top. I think alot of people just do the first pitch (5.9 three bolts and some gear) which goes up to an anchor you can see from the ground. You can also walk up a ramp to get to this anchor to top rope Spread Eagle and Welcome to Lost Eagle. The 2nd pitch is 5.7 and fun with 5 bolts and some gear. The last pitch is 5.7, slabby, and has two bolts and some gear to a bolted anchor on the summit block....[more]   Browse More Classics in California

2wd ok but make sure you have clearance and don't mind scratching the shit out of your vehicle. Road is narrow and to get up the hill to the "main" campsite you have to navigate some terrain similar to the road up to high eagle. I cleared 4 fallen trees out there two weeks ago, I must have been the first of the season. At the base of the last hill, where you can make a left to head down to a separate campsite, if you head straight through the trees towards the creek you'll hit the swimming hole wall. The better swimming is upstream and below the upper camp sites, but there's a decent watering hole right at the base of the swimming hole wall.

We barely made it out here in my subaru outback. high clearance is necessary.
