Description

This is a cool little sport crag at Chancos, an area popular for its sub-par hotsprings at the foot of the Cordillera Blanca. If you are visiting the hotsprings the crag is about 10 minutes down the road from the main tubs. There are 8 routes, from about 5.8-10+ with the majority in the 5.9 region and the routes are numbered from 1 to 8 with paint on the rock. The rock quality is good and looks like it hasn't seen much traffic, and this spot is worth a stop if your in the area, although not so much of a destination if climbing is your only goal. A lot of guiding services use this crag to take out in-experienced tourists due to the easy routes, but I find it unlikely that you would bump into anyone else there. Also, you can access the top by hiking around so it's very easy to set up top-ropes.

Getting There

From Huaraz, take a taxi (30-40 soles) or take a combi (bus/van) for 3 soles to Puente Marcara and then take a taxi up to the crag for 1 sol up to the rock. Be sure to tell the driver to take you to the rock for climbing.
