im new to climbing. I live in huntsville and I'm looking for a mantor/climbing partner. I have shoes and chalk and that's it. I'm really wanting to get into this and just need help getting the basics and some guidance. I'm really interested in trad climbing and bouldering. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a small climbing gym at the Athletic Club Alabama south location. It is a good place to meet climbers, although its mostly going to be a bunch of gym gumbies, there is a small dedicated crew of serious climbers that are there consistently. A handful of us are serious traddies. There is also a facebook page 'Yellow Bluff Climbers' for our local crag. Good luck man.

Come ON Dustin, our little climbing closet is crowded enough as it is these days! JK, but seriously, Dustin is right ACA its where most of us weekend warriors in Huntsville hang out, train and can be found several nights a week, Its not the most glorious gym in the world but its better than nothing. One of the more experienced guys in the community (Tim) does a climbing class Thursdays at 5:30 that is free for whoever shows up, be it a member or day pass. That's probably a pretty good place to start if you are a complete newbie. We are a pretty friendly group of folks for the most part.

Thanks. I'll have to go check it out.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
