Dave Funatake on an unnamed boulder problem on the...

This area was initially submitted by Thomas Ellis. It has been revised to add the two distinct boulder-field locations. Nice Granite boulders up above Long Lake less than a mile before Wiener lake. Close to road and not too noisy. I put up roughly 35 problems here but there was much I did not have the time to get to.
There seems to be a good concentration of moderate to difficult problems so enjoy.

Getting There

Long Lake is located just before Wiener Lake on the Glen Hwy about 15 miles east of Chickaloon. As you pass the small pullout area for Long Lake the Hwy starts to climb a steep grade. At the top of this grade there is a pullout on your right hand side before the road turns left. Park here. Walk back down the road about 150' and you should notice a small drainage on the uphill side. Walk up left side of drainage until you reach a ridge (about 100') traverse left on this ridge for about 5-10 minutes and you should start to see boulders. The first set of boulders, are the Lower Boulders. Continue up the ridge for 5 more minutes, to the Upper Boulders. There is only one major flat zone below the main mountain you are under so you shouldn't get lost.Tom Ellis(who developed the area, posted a video of the area. View it here . Take a look at it before you go so you have some visual reference upon arrival. Good luck
