... in case some people are contemplating a trip from the bay area this weekend. It only started to snow this morning, woulda been good otherwise.

Anyone interested in snowshoing pyramid peak? Also can it be snow shoed?

Attempted Pyramid peak on Sat. Was a slog in 8" of powder. Tuned back at a the start of the actual peak. Here are some pics of the conditions at 8500 ft and the Leap.

Thanks for the updates... Please keep them coming! Might things be dry enough for climbing on Friday? It looks like there should be some rain in the next couple days to help with melting, followed by mostly sun.

There was some snowfall this week but it's mostly melted out. Conditions are good now. Expect some patches of snow at the base and some wet cracks. Worth a trip if it doesn't rain.

Base of Lower Buttress (2016-04-29 15h12). There was one party on The Groove. I didn't see anyone on Surrealistic Pillar or Corrugation Corner (lo and behold).

If anyone is looking for a Lover's Leap climbing partner, I will be available this weekend and next week. I haven't led trad, but I have followed on many of the Leap classics (Surrealistic Pillar, Corrugation Corner, and Bear's Reach).

I am also looking to start lead trad climbing once I finish building my trad rack so if anyone is willing to mentor a super stoked climber shoot me a message.

Conditions are great. Time to get after it!

We climbed on Friday (cold, but awesome, we were the only parties on the East Wall) and Saturday (savage wind nearly knocked us down at the base of Corrugation Corner, we bailed and climbed Better with Bacon).

The photos upthread summarize it well, very small patches of snow that are easy to navigate.

The campground was still closed as of the weekend.

Bring on the crowds...

USFS website says that the campground is "generally" open May 15th.
