Lakeside Rock Rock Climbing
Lakeside Rock from atop Rat Rock, Joshua Tree NP
This slabby wall is home to a number of fun slab routes, some cracks and one ultra-classic sport route. Rock quality is average, but with a short approach and less than average traffic this might be a wall worth checking out.
Notable routes here include X-Rated Tits
(5.9), an interesting bolt-protected groove to crack climb that has a name you'll either love or hate, An Eye for an Eye And a Route for a Route
(5.10b), a well protected thin face route with a long name and the popular steep sport route Father Figure
(5.12d) which is definitely not a slab.
From the Barker Dam parking area follow the trail out to Barker Dam proper and look east to a light-colored slabby wall which is Lakeside Rock.

Shorter climbers may find the crux, and the route, to be slightly harder than the rating indicates.Left of this is Patracide, a decent short warm-up route and to the right is Factor 1, another even more difficult climb.* It is interesting to note that this climb...[more] Browse More Classics in California

This formation provides numerous excellent routes. A party of climbers could spend the day here; I have.
