The lake of Lake Point

Currently the highest developed crag in the Canyon proper. This crag is at the upper tip of the Southeast side of the Canyon across from the French Cattle Ranch. Lake Point features many detached pillars ringed with horizontal pocket lines (HPL's). The rock is more compact than most other Ten Sleep crags and generally offers widely spaced juggy climbing on a variety of different angles. The area offers morning shade and tree filtered sun in the afternoon. Routes face in a variety of directions also offering different temperature options.

Getting There

Drive a mile or so up canyon from Deer Haven and turn right at the Lake Point Picnic Area sign. Take an immediate left to wind up the hill to the picnic area. Continue all the way to the end of the road to find parking accommodations for as many as ten vehicles. Walk down to and across the CCC dam. Take a right and follow the faint trail up to an old logging road. Continue West 150 yards along this old road until a clearing through the trees reveals another trail up to another logging road. Cross this and begin the slog up the well marked trail to the crag. This is a 15 minute walk.

Mini Blonde Bomb 5.11- 6c 22 VIII+ 22 E3 5c  Wyoming : Ten Sleep Canyon : ... : The Cobra
This route climbs through sidepulls and pockets over nice white stone to a small bulge crux that guards the anchor. Great movement from start to finish makes the route feel longer than it looks. It is a great new addition to the Cobra formation....[more]   Browse More Classics in Wyoming

When you go west on the first logging road, continue through a fence and keep walking until you see a well marked trail through the trees. There are loads of cairns! Way easier trail to follow than we were expecting! Cheers!
