Lake Lure Accident

Any one have any information on what exactly happened? The newspaper reports don't make much sense. The victim was a friend of mine and I would like to understand the accident better. Thank you.

are you talking about the fatality at Rumbling Bald on Jan 1, or was there another accident since then?

It appears that he was run out above his gear and fell which resulted in a ground fall. There is some speculation that they were not on the route they thought they were. Sad stuff.
