Sandstone Cliff line overhanging the lake by by HWY 43. If the lake level is low you can climb...if the lake level is normal you cannot get to the base of the wall and the water is NOT deep enough to DWS.

Getting There

HWY 69 to HWY 43 just north of Atoka. Take Hwy 43 West and cross over the lake. Park on the other side of the bridge. You can see the cliff line before crossing the bridge.

The wild iron oxide sandstone here is like nothing else in the State, the decision was made in the late 70s early 80s when we (John Barritt, Brian Jung, Corky Johnson and Monty Coffman)started climbing here not to bolt due to the unique formations and beauty of the wall. There are about 15 routes that extend south down the wall from the bridge (north) end to the cave. There is room for a lot more. Some are trad lead FA routes that require "creative" pro. others were done on top rope. The best time to climb here is the late summer early fall as the lake level will be at it's lowest due to OKC water usage. There is a low traverse that can be done when the water is up. Be sure and search the shore and base of the cliff near the bridge end of the wall for arrowheads.
