Lac du Rocher Rock Climbing
BETA PHOTO: nice column
Climbing at Du Rocher is not as attractive as Shawbridge or Vache Noire but by its orientation,it will always offer you well hydrated and thick ice all the way to april.
You will find interesting lines in the WI3+ to WI4+ range and a potential for a few moderate to harder mixed routes as well.
The main cascade usually offers a steeper start(15m) that eases off through low angle snow/crust then approx.15 more meters of easy ice(WI3) giving +\- 40 meters total.
Always worth the visit especially if you want to avoid crowds and sun baked ice!!!
From cul-de-sac(u-turn), take the wide trail(summer road) that goes to the right.
Walk +\- 250m and carefully watch for an orange flag marking the final approach on the left.
You should from that point(in front of a white/gray house),have a glimpse of the icefall.
Follow flagged trail for 5 minutes.
Not the easiest place to get to, seriously, use a GPS.
Parking location: 46.23673,-74.33582
Park in front of the U-Turn, leaving enough room for snow removal equipment to pass.
There is also a big parking 150m before the U-turn on the left side
