Description

This cliff is located in Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci, in the Ouareau Forest regional park on the western end of the contreforts.
It faces south next to a small lake (premier lac du castor), the national trail runs near its base and has plenty of shade for those warm summer days. But the elevation of the cliff and this shade come at the price of taking a while longer to dry out after a good rain. Nevertheless, this cliff holds some amazing routes with some of the wildest rock around.

Getting There

From Montreal, take the 25 Nord until it turns into 125 N.
Take 125 to Notre Dame de la Merci and then take 347 Sud for 8 km until an intersection.
Follow 347 Sud for a bit less than 2 km until an obvious sign for parking (stationement) on the left.
The approach trail begins on the west end of the parking lot (look for the sign to Lac Blanc/Castor).
Follow the trail over a bridge and take a right, the trail follows the lake and eventually goes uphill to the cliff.

Hard to read from the ground. Some of the holds that look bad are good and vice-versa. Fight the pump and save some for the last move....[more]   Browse More Classics in International
