RAIN, WET ROCK and RAPTOR CLOSURES: The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Also please ask and be aware of Raptor Closures in areas such as CAT WALL and RESERVOIR WALL in Indian Creek MORE INFO >>>

Description

This area describes crags along the La Sal Loop Road including the Dakota Crag, Lower Brumley, and Upper Mill Creek climbing area. All are very high elevation and a great place to escape the heat, but are open to climb for only a few short months during the summer.

Getting There

The La Sal Loop Road can be entered south of Moab near Ken's Lake or East of Moab along the Colorado River near the Fisher Towers Area. Approaches are generally short, but the drives are long (30-60 minutes from Moab depending on your driving speed).

MP site mentions this climb only open a few short months in summer. I'll be driving through early September, will it still be open to climbing at that time?

The "High on Moab" climbing guide says that there's a rope ladder on the Dakota Crags for easy access. Over the last weekend, we hiked pretty much the entire crag from start to end but couldn't locate any such ladder. Does anyone have more information about this?

I may have lost my car keys circa guava jelly. Lemme know if you find them anyone!
