Description

La Cruz is a deep canyon next to the road, east of Huásabas. Its dominating feature is two side canyon arms near the head which form the cross. The rock, which I believe is rhyolite, ranges from hard and immaculate to loose choss. The walls are up to 200m tall and face all different directions, holding huge amounts of potential for development, especially for 1-2 pitch routes. There is a pull-off on the road with a short walk to a nice viewpoint that is popular with people driving by.

Getting There

From Hermosillo (4 hours), go east on 14 for a few hours, through Moctezuma, to Huásabas. The canyon is 10 minutes above the pueblo and to the east.
If coming from Douglas/Agua Prieta, take 17 south to Mocetezuma.
It's about a 4 hour drive from either place.
