Chilling in the klettergarten.

Description

Easy-access sport climbing in the Jura. One of the largest areas in the Jura, with 100+ routes from 4c to 7c. Popular area, but if you pick your section right you shouldn't have to wait in line.

The otherwise good-quality limestone can be 'speckig' ('bacony' = greasy), so bring a brush and some chalk.

Southwest aspect, mostly in the trees.

One quite long (for the Jura) multipitch route, but mostly single pitch. Some of the steep routes west of the pillar remain dry in the rain.

In Plaisir Jura.

Getting There

Train to Klus, 1 hr from Zurich. The cliff band is visible from the train station, just head up the obvious path, marked with a klettergarten sign. The trail deposits you almost a the middle of the cliff. Left for more of the hard stuff, right for easier and shorter routes.

6bNow for something totally different -- pumpy, diagonal roof jamming and jug hauling. Not your typical Jura crimp-fest.Start at the 5c+ on right side of the giant roof. Put in a long sling at the anchor, and then head up and right, following the large blocky seam. ** Important: for the last few clips, you'll want long slings or double draws to reduce the chance of the rope getting wedged in the crack before the anchor. ** Can be cleaned from the round bolt below that crack, rather than the anch...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
