BETA PHOTO: The left end of Kis Fal - the shorter wall at Rók...

Description

This is the shorter wall that you will see across from the trail you walk in on. It's largely south facing and therefore catches a lot of sun pretty much all day. Great spot for some after work climbing as it stays light pretty late too.

The rock is limestone and on some of the easier routes, it's a bit crumbly. Routes are well bolted and there are chain anchors at the top. There are 15 routes listed in the Magyarország Sziklamászó Kalauza (Climbing Guide of Hungary) and the grades range from II up to a VI+/VII- (UIAA grading). Look for the name and grade of the route at the start of each climb - they are marked with red paint.

Getting There

When you walk in on the trail, look across the way to the shorter wall. Scramble up to the base of the rock.

Nice easy start for the first two clips and then things get interesting above the third clip. Careful footwork on grippy nubs will help you as you work your way up higher. The handholds are there if you trust your feet. The guidebook lists this route with a V- UIAA grading which corresponds to a 5.6+ or 5.7- Yosemite grade. You will have to weave left and right a bit as you climb to keep things at that grade....[more]   Browse More Classics in International
