King Richard V4, Straight up the blank face starti...

Head up the blank face between Space Lords and the obvious crack. Start on the knob and enter the vertical realm of gastons and edges. A chicken head is waiting for you at the finish. Remember the aerets are off!

In-between Space Lords and the obvious huge crack.

Decent amount of pads (3 or 4) and good spotters

I've got nothing in my records. Claiming a first in Groom is problematic due to the long, undocumented history of the place. Most of the moderate to easy routes could have seen a few ascents without anyone knowing. King Richard could be in this category. At any rate, if someone claimed a first on it, there would be no way to prove it. It's that kind of route. A lot of strong climbers have passed through and are still climbing up there!

However, many of the truly difficult routes that have been recently cleaned and worked out (last decade or so) could be given first ascents status to someone, if the climbers involved bothered to announce it. Some have, most haven't.

Most of the problems reported to me, even the really hard ones, rarely include first ascent info. Climbers often look at these things as group efforts. The routes being cleaned and projected as a group, with several people pulling them off. They might mention who got it first, but it wasn't considered anything super special.

I cleaned and climbed 100s of undocumented routes while writing Prescott Bouldering but claim no first ascents, although no doubt many were.
