I'm living out in Marion, Illinois for the next few months and looking for people to climb with. I've been climbing off and on for the last few years and have all the gear needed for sport climbing. Let me know if your coming out this way...or already are!
Depends how long a few months is. This is the worst season for climbing at Jax: stifling, humidity that increases gravity, no wind, bugs out the wazoo.
But, check out the ICA (Illinois Climber's Assoc) page on Facebook. Neither this forum nor the ICA page get a lot traffic, but I think there are more people--especially locals--on the latter. I know a few climbers who live in/near Marion who are on the ICA page.
Thanks Matt, yea I had checked that site out but as you said it looks like it doesn't get much traffic. I'll keep searching, there's gotta be some folks that don't mind the heat.
I can deal with the heat. I just have a farked up work schedule, and I save my days until late fall and early winter. If it looks as if I can make it out, I'll post. Also, I heard that a few guys from the gym in Evansville went to Jax the other day, so maybe there might be a few more that are willing (though I'm unsure of the rope experience level of those who went, as most everyone at the local gym prefers bouldering).
On the Facebook page, his initials are J.T. -- he lives in Marion and is a strong, experienced climber.
Hey MP people, I am still looking for people headed for Jackson Falls to climb with. So far it looks like its gonna be a drought summer so humidity and bugs are no issue! Let me know if anyone is interested.
