Is there an easy way to get the name an geopoint of all climbing areas?

I'm working on making a nice lil' web page that will display how likely your crag of choice is to be dry, and the google maps autocomplete api doesn't provide great suggestions (for climbing areas, anyway).

I was going to start working on a script to just screen scrape locations, but was hoping to save that for a last resort. Is there an endpoint I can hit or somebody I can talk to that may have done this already?

I'm primarily interested in the US because it's where I live/climb, but there's no reason that I can't make this work for the international crags as well :)

For reference, the page currently lives at mschmele.github.io/is-it-dry/

I'll happily provide more information if my vague stream-of-consciousness isn't clear enough

How is this different than climbingweather.com?

I'm hoping to be able to take things like ground moisture (taken via NASA's SMAP data), humidity, and most recent rain into account to find out if it's dry right now

Darn, the API only appears to return general location information, which you could maybe map to a bounding box suing google.

However, looks like you still need to find a way to query for all route IDs.

Looks like you're right. Would it be unreasonable to ask the powers in charge for a getAreasByState function (or something similarly named)?

Also good find - I poked around a bit but didn't see that

Yea, that's cool. Or at least a start. Not around when I was asking about API stuff two years ago.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
