The original route to the top did not scale the tower at all. Rather, the top was accessed by climbing the adjoining mesa. Since then a route has been added which ascends the tower and should add to the allure of this area.

Getting There 

As described in DRIII. Indian Chief is a Wingate tower above mile marker 28. It is named for its obvious profile as you drive upriver on River Road.
