I started right hand on the left hold marked in the picture and left hand on the arete. Did you do that start as well? I bumped right hand to the right hold marked and then did a hard foot switch to a very high right foot to bring my left hand over.

I did try it that way as well, I thought it became a little to contrived, otherwise one could climb up the arête on better holds then right as opposed to 'making it harder' by staying low. Fun variation nonetheless...

Yeah, your start is a much better problem. The variation is fun, though a little awkward and certainly contrived.
