Description

Honeymoon Boulder is about 35 yards west of Fossil Boulder. This boulder is only about 9 feet tall but has some fun problems on it and an easy descent on north side. A few good problems on south and east side of rock which makes for warm bouldering in chilly weather.

Getting There

Head west on CO Hwy 141 from Whitewater, CO. Go over railroad tracks, past curvy day use area, over a cattle guard, and uphill for approximately 1 or 2 miles. The entrance to parking area is on WEST side of the road.

Fossil Boulder is the first rock you will see when entering the area. Area is a quick drive from Whitewater probably only 5-7 minutes from CO Hwy 141/US Hwy 50 intersection. There is plentiful parking, and it is easy to find.

Start on left side with left hand on left arête and right hand on pinch about waist high. Put your left foot in a vertical crack in bottom left and a right toe hook in big volleyball-size hole in bottom of rock to keep from barn-dooring. Move your right hand up to an obvious, two finger pocket. Cross with your left to a good crimp just NE of the pocket. Move your right hand to a decent rib running SE diagonal across the face. Match with left hand on rib, and then do a quick pop up to the l...[more]   Browse More Classics in Colorado
