Eyes on the Honey... (Nikon PL510)

Ascend in a jaunty fashion then stare at a big throw to the Honey Bucket. The guidebook says 12a. Consensus is that it is a very soft 12a. Climb it and rate it yourself.

As the other 2 said, this is really soft- closer to 11b/c than 12a.

I think 11b is generous. I've climbed 11a's harder than this route.

  • Definitely WAY easier than a .12a (Def no V4 moves anywhere)
  • Felt like it was over-bolted
  • The cobbles are solid
  • Maybe if you are really really really short this is a .12a?
  • Definitely worth doing if you're in the area!!

The reason this route seems soft is because it was rated 12a when there were about half the amount of good holds prior to the honey bucket, however with all the many new options for good holds to throw up to the "honey bucket" 12a is a stretch

climbing only starts at the second bolt, and only lasts about 15ft through a steep bulge.
Felt much more like a v3 boulder problem with some clipping

Regardless of the grade (which 12a is a stretch), this is absolutely worth doing. Super fun moves on really good holds. :)

The single crux sequence seems harder than Angry Inch, but it is brief. Do it and boost your ego! Then go do Freshly squeezed and come back to reality
